The Dental Foundation of Oregon annually accepts nominations for its Awards of Excellence. These awards recognize individuals, clinical and educational programs whose work helps achieve our mission of improving oral health for Oregon's children. Not all awards are given annually. These awards recognize individuals, clinical and educational programs whose work improves the lives of Oregon children by increasing the quality and quantity of dental health, education and prevention. Not all awards are given annually. The George A. Ronning Humanitarian Award Each year the foundation selects one program that serves those who have no access to quality dental care. The Ronning Award is given annually to a DFO grant recipient that exemplifies the highest standards and ethical principles in dentistry. The George A. Ronning Humanitarian Award is an annual tribute to the late Dr. Ronning, who is remembered as a caring dentist, a model statesman and an outstanding humanitarian. The award honors Dr. Ronning's life's work in dentistry as well as his humanitarian spirit.
Volunteer Dentist of the Year This award is presented to a dentist who actively volunteers in a community dental clinic or program that has received DFO grant funding. The award recognizes compassionate care, long term service and a commitment to volunteerism.
Outstanding Dental Program Achievement Award This award recognizes a community dental clinic or dental education program that addresses an unmet dental health need in the community. The winning program must be a past recipient of a DFO grant and demonstrate innovation and creativity in the design or delivery of services.
Healing Hands Award This award is presented to a hygienist, assistant, or front office staff who volunteers their services to a community dental program or clinic. The winner is recognized for long tenure, excellent professional skills and selfless service.
