#11 Tri-City Elementary
March 11, 2013 by Mary Daly

It's always wonderful to pull up to a school and see a sign:  "Welcome Tooth Taxi".  Tri-City Elementary in Myrtle Creek rolled out the welcome for us.  The Tooth Taxi was busy all week with a significant amount of need at Tri-City Elementary. We also screened a handful of students from the high school, a short walk from across the street.

Some students were nervous for their first experience at the dentist, but by the end of the week many young students were eager to return to the Tooth Taxi for another appointment.

The office staff at Tri City Elementary gave a generous gift basket to the Tooth Taxi at the end of the week with school shirts, Tri City All Star lanyards, enormous delicious chocolate chip cookies, and other goodies. Several teachers stopped by the Tooth Taxi to check out our van and to say thank you.

From the kid gallery:
At the end of an appointment, one enthusiastic student asked, "Am I going to get my silver tooth next time?"

Realities from the road:
One student improved her oral hygiene habits by placing a bucket in her bedroom so that she could brush every night before she went to bed.

Other notes:
83% of students screened needed treatment.  This school is a good candidate to return to within 6 months for continued treatment. 17% needed no treatment.
